Hackerspace.gr (known as hsgr for short) is an open space for creativity, cooperation, research and, of course, learning. It is also something more than just a physical space. It's an active group of people fostering the ideals of free software.

The idea[edit]

Our ideals are based on Free and Open Source software, from open ideas but mostly from our need to share with the rest of the world the experiences we gained through our involvement with free and open source software.

Just as we share our code we want to share our ideas. Day by day we share data, opinions, questions and answers from home or work. So why don't we do it face to face?

Values[edit]

Sharing The basic value of operating the hackerspace is that we share projects, code and ideas produced in colaboration with others. Our motto (inspired by Creative Commons) is "I love to share".

Consensus All decisions are the result of consensus among the members. The decisions of the management are made at monthly meetings open to everybody.

Do-ocracy Nobody needs a permission to work on a project. Anyone that wants to organize an event or a workshop, that is aligned with Hackerspace principles and vision, doesn't need to wait for someone else to do it. She can take the initiative and and do it.
