Zymurgy is the art and science of crafting beer. Yet, for our purposes it could be extended to other beverages.... like potions!
For a brew or potion to work well it has to be crafted with good assemblage, with ingredients reasonable for the task (i.e. not diluted for other tasks), and like any beer-maker in the village can tell you, with impeccable intent. Without good ASM, you'll bumble the task and the magic simply won't anchor to the liquid.
