Piety is the quality of devotion -- loyalty to a higher purpose or gods. If you are elven, this is still called "wisdom". Perhaps that purpose is to perfect your warrior self, or perhaps it is to serve Bahomet. It is one of abilities uniquely tied to the player's attitude. If your piety is 0, you are a simpleton -- as sigifcant as an NPC commoner. If elven, you won't learn anything new.

Formerly called WISdom, but that word is best used as the accumulation of eXPerience. In other words, WIS is already incorporated by your LEVEL and other abilities, like PERception. If your gods are noble and strong, then your piety becomes a force of luck and reserve of mana.

DM notes:

  • +PTY: sacrifice, of something you value.
  • -PTY: misaligned activities -- activities not aligned with your goals and gods.
  • If 0: If elven, you won't learn anything new, otherwise you stand out as much as an NPC commoner.
