Except for dragons, races have a gender. Feywild, faeries, and dragonborn races don't need to declare a gender until asked or the game requires it. Others should most likely stick with your own gender (the one in your pants).

But, if players who choose the opposite gender than what they're "registered" with, give them an extra challenge. If they are M playing F, they get tagged with the trait of "ugly", or if F playing M: "goofy-looking". Pick two: bug-eyed, large ears/nose, zits, large mole on the face. Then they must find the path to fixing these gender challenges.

No short-cuts to getting unearned cred.

If you really need to know:

  • insectisoid types have a gender only as declared by their creators
  • reptilians never have a gender and only lay eggs from their unisex self as needed
  • other mutts may have ambiguous genders -- a mix of male and female traits, but this is an undesireable circumstance of the gods not having power, to keep things distinct.
