Gaming can be a good draw into your space, as hackerspaces usually have tables and attract such a crowd (misfits and malcontents). Further it gives high-schoolers something more to do than cruise or play video games and other non-productive, non-affirming isolation that eventually leads to depression and suicidal thoughts. Set aside one night each week for game-nights and you'll also help build the bridge between school and economic participation where they can build skills to put on their resume.

Side note: Hackerspaces will have to be seen, to some degree and at some time, as a sanctuary for those outcast or marginalized from the dominant paradigm. Public libraries have a similar problem. The solution isn't to kick them out, though, because they didn't create the problem. (Those with the assets and the power created it.)
