Age is a trait of players and NPCs that reflects the passing of Time. Even though Time is cyclical in the Realm, it is recorded so that you can accumulate hit-points.

Different Races age differently. Players age one-month for every 2hrs of game play (that's the normal "sloppy" game play with lots of boisterousness, if you tighten that up, if could be ~90min). There are 10 months per year. Elves age approximately twice as fast (1hr = +1yr) and dragonkind age twice as slow (but get much bigger as they age). See dragonkund.) as other races. Faeries age +1 year when they think about their age (or perhaps when someone asks them about it), otherwise they remain perpetually young.

Starting age begins at whatever amount your god/diety is able to provide--a complicated topic for another time. Suffice it to say there are mechanisms to advance player age to get you to a playable character in every class if you were to start at 0 years old. Each time the players meet at a gathering, for example, they gain age (see below). Players also age as they develop external characteristics for their character. Name creation can add 2 years, calligraphy up to another 2. Character avatar, same. Developing these gets you hit-points. Personality history and bonds, 4-20 years. Older categories of “ideals” and “flaws” are removed and left to the DM to assess as player progresses (each choice the player makes defines her or him--and there are 100s). A good DM can assess a character made by another DM and, like one nation's currency to another's, should be convertable (with a little critical analysis).

Age and Level should roughly track each other, although it will be different for multi-class or class-stacking players. These two attributes act as a sort of "advantage" roll -- the DM can choose to use one or the other for many different things to modify gameplay, like battle. If your fab is good for example, age can be the main dynamic that opponents see (since they can't tell your level). On the other hand, if your skills are good, level will be the primary dynamic.

AGE's effect on CON/HP stops at approximately 60 years old, Dwarves: 65, Elves: 165, Dragonkund: 225. Faery's age effect is self-limited. Elves aging will start to match regular humans after about level 50.

True elves should age up to 10 times the speed of other players (2hrs of gameplay= +1 year), but you don't have any of those, do you?

A player may decide to start at age 0 to create a more well-rounded history, otherwise most can start at level 10 and get more generic equipment appropriate for their class. Starting at 0, has better odds at getting you more personalized equipment, granting better fab and who know what.
