Karkhana’s central mission is to support a culture of experimentation in Nepal. We feel Nepal has a strong hacker/maker culture but its energies are directed at maintenance (preserving the same functions the factory delivered it with) rather than modification what it does. We want to create an environment in which creative people with a interest in technology and technical crafts can pursue projects. And we want to build the relationships that allow some of these projects to turn into products.
To support our mission we will provide a skill development workshops. And labs where these skills can be turned into things. We are for-profit company and will charge reasonable fees, that allows us to sustain ourselves and reward our investors, for these services.
