Ipswich Makerspace is a community and a place, housing an incredible brand of inventiveness across a whole spectrum of technologies and crafts. We have the usual equipment you'd expect from a Makerspace, such as excellent soldering equipment, laser cutters, and 3d printers, but also a craftwork area which specifically provides for papercraft, leatherwork, jewellery, sewing (we have an industrial overlocker and adjustable dressmaker's mannequin!) and so much more.

Additionally we have an attached workshop which is stuffed with everything you could wish for working on the more serious projects, especially woodworking. Highlights include a table saw, router table, CNC mill, compound mitre saw, bandsaw, drill press, belt sander, bench grinder, a lathe, and of course a ridiculously broad selection of hand and power tools.

We meet every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays - see our website or Facebook for details. You can work on personal projects and there's always someone there to help out or impress. We have a programme of talks, practical workshops, show and tell and group discussions. A opportunity to learn something new such as PCB making, leathercraft, lasering, or hear about the latest tech from someone who's been hands-on with it.

Successes: Our Tractorbot has won prizes at Pi Wars Cambridge four times now, including first place in 2018. At Pi Wars 2017, our redesigned TractorBot took second place in the Pros/Veterans category. We have since open-sourced this design - details at http://ipswichmakerspace.com/tractorbot-is-open-source/.

We are based at 11 Dove St, Ipswich, IP4 1NG. It is across the street from a truly marvellous pub, the Dove Street Inn, with its dozens of connoisseur beers and ciders.
