User:Average/Planetary transitions
When a civilization travels to the "ends of the Earth", the only way forward is to move from a culture of individualism and conquest to one of collaboration and interdependence -- because at that end point everything you do effects everyone else.
Various writers and prophesies have predicted this time. Whether it's the End of Growth [Economics], the New World Order [Christianity and the US$1], the Messianic Age [Judaism], the Mayan prophesy [Spiritualism], Thomas Malthus [Academia], or the Harmonic Convergence [New Age Movement], it requires a complete 180 degree turn for much of society that was predicated on silly notions such as "endless growth".
The other way to see it, is as an effect of Peak Oil, global population growth (the necessity of change from individualism to collaboration society), Peak Energy, and the transitions of planetary evolution into a Class II space-faring civilization.
Whatever way you call it, it must happen or some kind of collapse will necessarily occur. Call it Civilization 2.0.
There are two main trajectories, one for the Judeo-Christian world which must be redeemed (try funding hackerspaces!) and clean up the mess it made, and one for the Scandinavian countries. These two transitions are paired with two different souls and have different karma and orders.
For the Judeo-Christian world, especially America:
- Remediation of history (Native American justice) and exploitation of the Earth
- Making a sustainable, human economy
- Perfecting the educational and academic sectors.
This will require changes to the Constitution and making a New World Order. Not the Death Star kind. The Federal Executive will be brought down, keeping a provisional government to hold the Postal Service, Park Services, and Social Security. The U.N. will be the focus for a World Supreme Court.
For Scandinavian states:
- Establishment of leadership via a constitution
- Development of International Standards for Industry (sustainability and weights/measures)
- True capitalism for the West and neo-socialism for Russian/Spanish states.
There's also one peculiar thing: the establishment of Jupiter for a permenant home for the best of civilization. A spaceport will prepare individuals for the flybys which are to be established every 30 years or so.
