Exactly like a farmer keeps his cattle, the people are kept bred and fed so as to lose any desire to revolt.

Television, Prozac, and Beef seem to be the main seducers, the meme-drugs, brain-drugs, and body-sedatives, respectively, that capture everyone in order to continue to produce more, more GDP.... For who? No one ever really knows. Something at the top of the all-seeing-eye, probably.
