The Richard L’ Abbé Makerspace at the University of Ottawa boasts an array of different technologies, ranging from 3D printing to soldering, laser cutting to embroidery and much more. The space is open to the students throughout the week and is also open to the community on Sundays. Most equipment present is free to operate, provided prior training has been done. There is always at least one staff member present to assist people using the different machines in the space. The Makerspace also has an online shop, the makerstore, where materials that can be safely used in the laser cutters, 3D printers and the Cricut machine are available.
