The Geek Group provided access to science, technology, engineering and math by developing programming and facilities for individuals and institutions to learn, explore, innovate and play at an independent pace according to their needs. They closed their doors December 31, 2018.

The Geek Group was a US 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Geek Group had over four thousand members scattered across the globe, in every state in the US and one hundred and forty one countries.

History[edit]

The Geek Group was founded in 1994. It moved locations several times before coming to Grand Rapids in 2010.

During 2017 and 2018, The Geek Group slowly rebranded itself as The National Science Institute, eventually dropping the "The Geek Group" name altogether.

In the December of 2018, The Geek Group (now fully The National Science Institute) was raided by several federal authorities[1], fully shutting down on December 31[2].
