TechShop San Jose should have it's City and State changed from blank to San Jose and California, respectively? Sm0ke

feel free to do so, you just have to add the information to TechShop San Jose - the list is autogenerated. --Fh (talk) 07:34, 30 May 2013 (CEST)

Would anybody mind changing City for FED e.V. to "Aachen" ? Or did get the map wrong ??

Sandbox status changed to Planned. Can't refresh categories. Get an error. Openfly 21:28, 5 January 2009 (CET)

OPEN QUESTION How can I rename a space? LexingtonKY => Collexion.

Same question - would like to rename Gainesville Hackerspace to Skillhouse, and I don't see a way to do it. ktg 21:42, 18 May 2009 (EST)

Same request for a name change. Please update the "Make Louisville" hackerspace name as "LVL1". The old name was a placeholder as a new name was being voted on. Thanks!ccprek 17:47 16 Dec 2009 (EST)

Will you please rename the Austin Hackerspace? It is currently showing up as "http://www.austinhackerspace.org" but should just be called "Austin Hackerspace". Thanks! mrmccabe

I also need a rename -- Techshop Durham is now TechShop RDU, and isn't located correctly on the map. (Or I could fix it myself, if I were allowed to ...) Ruthan

Hey could you please change the url of the Syracuse Innovators Guild. We have our own domain at http://sig315.org and are no longer hosting it on my server (it just redirects now). The hackerspaces.org/sig315 page has been updated. Thanks! mmorsi 15:30, 25 Sept 2010 (EST)

Google <-> OSM?[edit]

Why is here a google maps widget? Their maps are restricted and afair its illegal to print it or use images of it for presentations etc. Wouldn't be OpenStreetMap a better alternative?

Something like this [1]? --Bouni 16:46, 10 March 2011 (CET)
+1 for OpenStreetMap! It is free as is freedom and much more hackable! There are a number of (java)scripts/APIs/programs available to make your own maps or just put markers on a Slippy Map like OpenLayers. Zeptomoon (talk) 17:05, 27 May 2013 (CEST)
Just adding format=openlayers to the options for the map display should be enough to switch over to using an OSM map here. That worked for me on a similar map on my user page. Hope one of the admins can try this simple fix. mesheldrake

Timeline graphs[edit]

A timeline based on founding date and one regarding the last modification of their wiki page - sweet to get an overview, however please don't draw to many conclusions from these, since the data esp. about founding date might for instance be interpreted differently from space to space.

Vote to remove a space[edit]

The space listed for Boulder Colorado (www.winterinthebunker.com) isn't an active hackerspace. When I asked whether they have a hacker meeting, I was pointed to a calendar of events that shows no hacker events for the next 18 months.

Who are you? What is your interest in that policing? Please login and make yourself known. Hellekin

Our hackerspace is not showing up on the list?[edit]

Hi I have made http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/TEK-Boblerne via the add a hackerspace form. But it does not show up in the list, what am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help. Madsgormlarsen 12:15, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi, you see it in the list if you're logged in as a registered wiki user but not as random visitor. Strange behaviour of the semantic extension? @astera: Needs to be fixed...
Hi, same for me, I tried to add http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Labomedia, but it's not shown up in the list, if I'm logged or not as Labomedia, did I miss something ?
edit 28 December 2009 (UTC) : ok, fixed, thanks !
It still seems broken. I added Computer_Club_of_Western_Michigan_University, which appears on the List_of_active_Hacker_Spaces, but not on the List_of_Hacker_Spaces. WTF? -- tmiley
same like above - if you're logged in, you're space shows up on List_of_Hacker_Spaces --PK 21:34, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi! Like a month ago I add our hackspace MatesLab, we are from Argentina, here http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/MatesLab. I make some changes logged or not as Nakin, but it still doesn't show up in the list. Can someone tell me what to do? or can someone check it out what is wrong?

Guys, we're doing some hardcore caching here, so if you're unlucky, it'll take up to a day until any freshly added hackerspace shows up in the list. In case you srsly don't wanna wait, you can always change a wee little detail on the list page, add some whitespace, whatever, and it will reload. However simply waiting and having a cuppa tea will solve this 'bug'. Hack on -- astera, 10:45 PM CEST, Feb. 09th 2010

pvince recommended (#hackerspaces, 20101019) to just purge the page. http://hackerspaces.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Hacker_Spaces&action=purge -- PeterS 15:05, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

The cache system still seems to be broken when I view the list I'm not seeing anything added after Nov 2009 even though I can find the hackerspaces on the map. For example, our own hackerspace, Dallas Makerspace was added months ago and still doesn't show up. I tried the purge cache URL above but it doesn't seem to help. Here's a link to our entry: http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Dallas_Makerspace and our marker is on the map, but we're not in the listing. Steevithak 23:56, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

As of 11-23-10, Noisebridge is not showing up on this list. There is a wiki entry for us, which uses the Hackerspace template and shows up in the Category:Hackerspace list (I thought maybe we were missing a category but it doesn't seem so). I purged the page as mentioned above but it still doesn't display. Is there anywhere that explains how the list is generated (is it from the Hackerspace category as I suspect?) so this can be checked? Or someone pls fix! Thanks, Rachel McConnell

I'm sure I've mentioned this before some place, but MediaWiki has restrictions depending on your account (user/ops/bot) as to how many lines to display in a list; if you're looking for your space on the List of hackerspaces & don't find it, please use the link at the top of the page to see a all hackerspaces (that site has paging, link to be found on the very bottom). We're working on a solution though. astera - 18-02-2011

Space Not Listing Correctly[edit]

We've had our space listed up here for some time as Midsouth Makers, but on the List of Hacker Spaces it shows up with the city as Midsouth Makers and not Memphis. Do we need to edit anything? It shows up correctly on our individual page. --Dan9186 19:15, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

As mentioned previously, we're performing a lot of caching on this wiki, especially so on every page including a large table or a map. Therefore, it can take up to several hours until any changes get propagated to these pages. If you'd like to clear the cache though and check for yourself, use the 'action' parameter with the value set to 'purge' like this, for example: $URL?&action=purge -- astera 27|03|11

Protected?[edit]

I just wanted to make some improvement to the query, but noooooo, the page is protected. Way to go on killing of contributors >_>

Country Categories[edit]

Hi, I have seen that in Categories of country appear the location of different spaces of the area. Today I have add 2 new locations but still don't appears to map. Any clue? Thanks. --Blackhold 16:50, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

one hackerspace various locations[edit]

there's some way to put two places (or more) to one hackerspace? in hs-bcn we have 3 and in hs-garrotxa pretends to have more than one also. --Blackhold 21:28, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm afraid there's none (at least for now) - probably going around this issue as with the events (superevent || part of an event series) would be a solution here, too. So, if anybody would like to implement this, please step up and get in touch with our friendly tech team; otherwise, we'll just put it on the to-do list to be taken care of _some_ day! astera 27|03|11

Request for removal of Sydney hackerspace - duplicate[edit]

Could you guys please remove the listing to Sydney hackerspace, as it's a duplicate of Robots and Dinosaurs. We created our hackerspaces.org presence before we'd properly decided on a name, so this is just legacy stuff. There aren't any other hackerspaces currently in Sydney. Thanks a bunch.

Yours faithfully, Jenna Fox, web mistress at Robots and Dinosaurs. --220.239.179.44 01:49, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

removing sprout from the list of hackerspaces[edit]

Hi! I was wondering if someone could remove sprout (Somerville, MA // thesprouts.org) from the list of hackerspaces? We're not one =)

Thanks! -- done! astera - 18-02-2011

Map width[edit]

No reason to set the width to 800px, just remove the parameter --Jeroen De Dauw 21:29, 28 February 2011 (CET)

Well, in fact, there is a reason for this setting: As we decided to display the map with a larger height (400 px) than default on this page, we also needed to apply a setting that would make sure we displayed the world _as a whole_, as opposed to cutting off the top and bottom of the map (and all hackerspaces on it, respectively)! However, if you'd like to suggest a better way to get around this, I set up a testing page to play around with - would love to have your feedback. astera 27|03|11
Unless you specify a zoom or centre yourself, the map will make sure it shows all locations. So you can remove the width parameter without running into troubles. See the map on this wiki for example: http://smw.referata.com --Jeroen De Dauw 01:47, 1 April 2011 (CEST)

Remove Limit[edit]

Hey, it seems to be a limit on the #ask of the table (600). Some Hackerspaces are not displayed at all although registered. Is that because of the limit? If yes it might probably make sense to remove the limit.Ppapadeas 19:06, 11 May 2011 (CEST)

Listed, but not on Map[edit]

Ames MakerSpace is on the list, but not the map. What do I need to do to add it to the map? NittyG 20:25, 17 May 2011 (CEST)

It is listed on the map; you probably checked immediately after adding the space and then got the still cached result. --Jeroen De Dauw 22:23, 17 May 2011 (CEST)
I don't see it on the map either. I do see it on a map when I go to the Ames_Makerspace page though. The same thing for MakeLV.--Saxywolf 22:32, 21 July 2011 (CEST)
Pls note: only spaces with status=active will show up on this list.
There is another List of ALL Hacker Spaces. In the meantime I additionally linked to it on the sidebar on the left. It is important that spaces with status planned or building can be found easily.
list and big map are cached, however one can initiate a re-read by calling the page with [..]/List_of_Hacker_Spaces?&action=purge

N3td3v Glasgow[edit]

N3td3v is a person who used to troll the Full-Disclosure mailing list, not a hack space. The linked web page, http://sites.google.com/site/n3td3v/ makes no mention of any kind of hack space facilities. Can someone remove? --Lawnjam 12:55, 14 June 2011 (CEST)

done. --PK 20:08, 14 June 2011 (CEST)

E-Space missing on list, Hot Solder Hackerspace has gone from meatspace.[edit]

Wotcher. We just merged the two Exeter hackerspaces to become a single 'E-Space' hackerspace. Can the E-Space be added to the list and Hot Solder removed please, as Hot Solder is deprecated. (Although a really cool company!) E-space 01:06, 26 July 2011 (CEST)

Done. Deleted the old entry Hot Solder - Exeter.
Because of a caching new entries will not immediately show up on this list of (status=active) spaces
however one can initiate a re-read by calling the page with [..]/List_of_Hacker_Spaces?&action=purge
Good luck with your joint E-Space --PK 03:18, 26 July 2011 (CEST)

Comprehensive list[edit]

"This is a comprehensive, user-maintained list of all active hackerspaces throughout the world."

At this time there are over 800 spaces. Even if you are logged in, more than 200 are not listed. I suggest that, until a remedy is found, this claim be removed and users be directed to log in and check the comprehensive list of all hackerspaces. I know that people have gone away thinking there is no hackerspace in our city because of this. --Zik 17:49, 9 August 2011 (CEST)

Last Updated?[edit]

I've visited a couple of the websites on this list that have certainly been updated more recently than indicated. How often do you check sites for updates?

(Full disclosure - I'm a member of TX/RX Labs in Houston and we have an extremely active group - members are present at the space practically 24/7 and we update our website regularly).

That date indicates only the last edit of the according wiki page at hackerspaces.org - in your case of TX/RX Labs (Houston Hackerspace)

Map is useless[edit]

Hi all...

The map on this page doesn't seem to show any hackerspaces at all, and what's up with starting the map on a tiny spot in the middle of the ocean?

This seems to be because of a change over in the Template:Location. I reverted the change, but I don't know if it was made for a good reason in the first place. However, with the revert, things are showing up on the map again. So, there's that.
I'm having the same issue. Is the map just broken now? --Maker Wolf (talk) 03:47, 28 April 2013 (CEST)

Space not appearing on map[edit]

After having registered our space, Platform4 (http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Platform4) in Denmark, it appears on the list of spaces, but not on the map (http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/List_of_Hacker_Spaces).

Any idea why?

Thanks, -Christian PLATFORM4

I can't believe no hackerspaces in Miami?[edit]

Disappointed. Can't find anything yet. I'm at FIU.

Name change / Merger[edit]

MakeSLC has merged with a new group, EnjiGO. Could we have the name changed form MakeSLC to EnjiGO. Thanks

Add a link to related spaces?[edit]

Would anyone mind terribly if I added links to Fablab's map and maybe Techshop, at the top of the page?

Request for removal of Varna Lab hackerspace - duplicate of VarnaLab[edit]

Could you please remove the listing to Varna Lab hackerspace, as it's a duplicate of VarnaLab. The old one has an interval between Varna and Lab and it shouldn't. We've created a new listing with a proper logo and updated information of VarnaLab. As alternative you may also remove VarnaLab and rename Varna Lab to VarnaLab and we'll update the information. Thanks a lot!

Best wishes, Ivan Popjelev, member of VarnaLab.
