Kwartzlab is a hackerspace in Kitchener, Ontario. Our members have a wide range of backgrounds from electronics, programming, wood & metal working, robotics, crafting and more. We opened our doors and hit the ground running October 1st 2009 and haven't stopped since. In February 2019 we moved into our best space yet, on Bedford Rd in Kitchener.


Facility:[edit]

  • ~8650 sqft of space split into seven main areas: Front Room/Lounge, Fabtronics (Fabric Arts and Electronics), Kitchen, Studio Spaces, Layup/Work Area, Wood Shop, Metal Shop, plus a new space we're deciding how to grow into.
  • 24×7 access and on-site project storage for members
  • Tonnes of work tables
  • Smoking fast wifi

  • 80W Laser Cutter (G. Weike), 80W Laser Cutter (Mako), 2x 40W Laser Cutter (Mako) (being commissioned)
  • 2x Cubicon Single Plus 3D printers
  • 4x4' CNC Router
  • Sienci Longmill CNC Router
  • Dedicated electronics bench w/soldering stations, o-scope, logic analyzer, etc.
  • Well-equipped Fabric Arts area
  • Metalworking area with Brake/shear, Bridgeport Mill, Southbend metal lathe, MIG welding equipment, and a CNC mill being commissioned
  • Woodworking area with large saws, wood lathe, table saw, jointer, planer, routers & drill presses
  • Even more power tools!
