International Open Hackerspace Day

The International Open Hackerspace Day is an event to taking a look at the space for non-members. Many spaces (around the globe) are participating.

The International Open Hackerspace Day is happening every last Saturday of March.

members (of the space): Show your space to your local community!
non-members: Explore your local space and its inhabitants on this day of fun and technological curiosity.

Ideas for organizing an local event[edit]

What could you do to organize a International Open Hackerspace Day for your (local) space?

make a press release and spread this around your (local) newspapers, websites etc. (include nice hires pic with people on it)
explain the word 'hacker' and maker (some people have still a negative/criminal interpretation of hackers)
show people around your space and explain what a hackerspace is.
give an workshop eg soldering, programming, arduino
give a 'lecture' about privacy, IoT (and lack of security), open source software.
