IN-Berlin operated to provide internet access to individuals and NGOs (rather than universities) already since 1990. It initially existed as a loose association of individuals, but became an NGO (e.V.) in 1995.

A first place was rented to host servers to have meetings and workshops. In 2002, the servers were moved to a data center with a higher bandwidth connection to the internet and the hackspace itself moved to another location nearby. Nowadays we're offering VPN, e-Mail, Netnews, UUCP, Webhosting, Serverhousing, vServer and much more: check out our services. We're also powering a non-commercial internet exchange! More info on that on the Community-IX website.

Our space is nowadays available for meetings and workshops and is used mostly by Open Source groups. Besides the IN-Berlin itself, notably the Berlin Linux User Group and the berlinCreators are regulars, as well as various smaller groups. Check our calendar for more info on what's happening.

We're offering - a fast internet connection - coffee corner and kitchen - presentation space with projector, sofa, chairs for let's say 25 people - conference room for 10 people - ramp for wheelchair access - electronics workshop
