Hive 76 is a hackerspace located in Kensington, Philadelphia, PA. We are a collection of hackers, inventors, artists and volunteers. We are a non-profit (working on 501(c)3) run by our members who have 24-7 access to our workspace, tools, and equipment.

Our equipment includes several 3D printers (at least one guaranteed working), laser cutter, drill press, woodworking tools, electronic test equipment, and much more. We have space for electronics and software tinkering, as well as woodworking and light metalwork. We have public open hours every Wednesday night from 8 PM until 11 PM (EST). Visiting is allowed during Open House, classes, or occasionally on a case-by-case basis (depending on member availability to open the space).

We run 1-3 classes a month, ranging from Python to PCB printing, and regularly volunteer to do events with education, or develop great projects for events, local institutions, or our own satisfaction. Projects to come out of Hive76 include Linux Install Classes, a Giant Operation Game, raising money to do bike kits with kids.

There's a news video documenting Hive76 at http://www.philly.com/hacker.

Membership[edit]

Hive76 has a new member process that involves meeting all the current members, and being voted in. It's encouraged to become a Light Member early, and attend as many Open Houses as possible.
