Hackerspace Charlotte (HSC)is a community operated open technology lab. Opened in October 2010, HSC holds educational workshops and provides a physical space for individuals to work on projects. The facility is equip with an array of useful apparatus such as laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC machines.

HSC's mission to bring technology to the masses by teaching, building, and learning. Current HSC membership stands at about 30 members holding meetings each Tuesday where they gather to discuss HSC business and products. Wednesday are open build nights, Thursdays are Deep Dive coding classes, and the 'Last Friday of the Month' serves as an open house to the public.

In May 2011, HSC was the winner of 'The Great Global Hackerspace Challenge'. HSC won with their creation with Feltronics, a new and innovative way to teach circuit theory to children for under $100.00. In October 2011, HSC broke the world record for the world's largest permanent QR code. This code is located at the top of Southern Resources in Charlotte. The 10,000 square foot QR code that is visible through Google Maps. One of HSC's ongoing projects is its collaboration with Laptops for Haiti. Scrap laptops and donated equipment to HSC were refurbished by HSC members and donated to schools in Haiti for student use.

Hackerspace Charlotte is a vibrant community of people who have come together to share their love of information and technology. Members of the public are welcome to come at any time and join events.
