The hackLAB is a maker mentor program in its infancy. Some background. Ryan taught at NC State Design and during Summers, Design Camp but noticed many weren't able to afford this entry-level design education opportunity at $600 wk+ so they never pursued design careers. That sucks. With others, he now mentors makers and designers students of all ages from schools, garages and art fairs. This hopefully will spark an engineering or design mind. Together, let's change young lives and keep there minds creative and happy.

hackLAB is a network of garages, small home studios, hobby closets, hackerspaces, and basement shops all over the world. We’re a growing Free Maker Group, covering topics like design software, 3D printing, game design, affordable router based CNCs, maker tools, welding, building an income by selling plans and cool useful products or just getting shit DONE.

We’re the place where you can learn new skills, meet other Makers of all ages, and use our space, tools, and technologies to turn your dreams and ideas into physical products. Our group of 60 and growing members are ready and built to foster creative collaborations between lovers of technology, art, electronics, music, robotics, mechanics, and more.

Back when Ryan the founder taught Design @NCState it seemed only the fortunate could afford the program or even afford Summer Design Camp that cost $600+ a week to get started. I launched hackLAB as an open global (digitally networked) group of amazing makers that mentor other makers, young, creative and talented. The target audience is (6th-8th) middle school and first-year high schoolers that need the nudge to pursue engineering, science, and design careers. We meet, mentor, hack and share our ideas, make videos, weekly live shows, schedule inspirational talks.

I look forward to hacking something cool with you.
