We are a 100% volunteer-run NYC makerspace located in the heart of New York City in Greenwich Village. The brainchild of Noah Sapir and bootstrapped by Fat Cat jazz club in 2013, we’ve been a hub for artists, students, engineers, hobbyists, startups, and meetups to gather and grow through 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC routing, sewing, electronics, art, and more. Welcome!

Philosophy[edit]

At Fat Cat Fab Lab, everyone has the freedom to teach, learn, share, practice, and create. People come for the tools and stay for the community. Whatever you decide to do to make this place better, will make it better for everyone. As a community, we celebrate the hacker ethos and open source movement.

Lab Areas[edit]

Woodshop with CNC router, metalshop, laser room, electronics lab, 3d printing area, sewing station, photography area, & painting wall.

Membership[edit]

Member dues are collected monthly and go towards maintenance, new stuff, and keeping the lights on. Members have 24/7/365 access to the lab and storage is available. Though, you can't live here. Members are asked to help take care of the lab. We don't force anyone to do anything, but doing a small part goes a long way!

Attending an Open House event (held every Wed, 7-8pm) is required for membership application. See our Meetup calendar to RSVP.

See our website or stop by one of our weekly Open Houses to find out about our Fat Cat Fab Lab Maker Residency!

Classes/Workshops/Talks[edit]

Visit our Meetup for events schedule.

We regularly teach laser cutting, CNC router, and 3D printing classes. Class attendance and certification is required for using the laser and CNC router.

Location[edit]

We're located above CVS with our entrance on W. 4th St, right of Bank of America.
